Angels and Demons post 1

Angels and Demons by Dan Brown is a book about a symbologist named Robert Langdon, a professor at Harvard University. Langdon is called to a Swiss research facility to inspect a symbol that was burned onto the chest of a murdered scientist.

The book Angels and Demons starts out with a fact that talks about Antimatter and where it was first discovered. This little fact helped understand the book later on. After the fact there is an prologue that explains how a scientist named Leonardo Vetra was murdered. This made me more interested in reading the book to find out who killed Leonardo Vetra. In the first chapter I was surprised that the setting change. The character I was introduced to was a symbologist named Robert Langdon. Langdon was called to a research facility to inspect a body with the word Illuminati engraved in the victim's chest.
In the dialogue between the caller and Langdon, the caller says that if you turn it upside down it still reads Illuminati. I found this pretty interesting and tried it out for myself. I was amazed at how it says Illuminati either way you turn it and thought it was also a creative little detail. Langdon was convinced to meet the caller and examine for himself the body.

So far I like where the story is going. It’s also interesting that the author uses a lot of dramatic irony to create a suspense. I think that it gets readers like me motivated to read on and find out what happens next.

  1. I like that you tell us what the book is about before you start telling us anything else. I like how you added a picture and a little fun fact about it. I even tried it and it is so cool how both ways it still reads “Illuminati”. I like how you tell us that you are still interested and why you are still interested in your book. I liked how you told us what Langdon was but I wish you would have explained what a symbologist is to help my understanding of his job and the book. I also think that you should have explained what antimatter is so we could understand what the book is talking about.
